In an announcement made this morning, the Bruins told the media they have recalled defenseman David Warsofsky on an emergency basis from the AHL.
Thankfully this recall isn't due to injury this time. Warsofsky has been recalled to fill in for Chara, who will be leaving the team a few days early to carry the flag for Slovakia in the Olympics. It's a great honor for Chara and a great opportunity for Warsofsky to show the Bruins what he's made of.
Warsofsky has played in 4 games with the Bruins this season and notched his first career NHL goal against the Ottawa Senators on December 28th.
The worry among many Bruins fans at this point is the performance of our defense without many of our big stars. After Tuesday we will be missing Seidenberg, McQuaid and Chara. That means our defense will look like this:

Although our depth do serve as great replacements for those we are missing, we are going up against two heavy hitters in Chara's absence and the pressure will be on the defense to help shut them down. We'll have to keep a close eye on how this defensive make up works for the team in the coming days.
Until then,
Keep calm and Bergeron!
