This is going to be a very brief recap because Christmas cheer is consuming my life tonight. But in any case, the Bruins pulled out a 2-0 win over the Calgary Flames last night after a fast paced first home game in almost two weeks, improving our record to 23-9-2.
Now this game definitely wasn't the prettiest thing we've seen out of the Bruins. The majority of the game was very back and forth with neither team really being able to maintain puck possession for very long. The first period was the exception in which the Flames dominated puck possession. We were lucky they had no idea what to do with the puck when they had it or the outcome of this game could have been severely different.
Our defense looked better than it did against the Canucks, although, again, they had some problems keeping the puck in the attacking zone. Offensively we basically fell flat. It was ironic and quite strange that the only time the Bruins could score was during the powerplay, which we have been notoriously mediocre at for years now.
Rask played a good game, making 21 saves and getting the shut out but he still looked a little sluggish compared to him pre- flu self. He looked a little slowed on his reset and the acrobatic, aggressive style we usually see was a little duller last night. But even so, he still played a good game and I'm not totally concerned about this sluggishness as it is to be expected out of someone still recovering from a bout with the flu.

As for our lone goal scorer Zdeno Chara, he's the prime example of "Don't poke the bear." Chara took a high stick to the cheek early in the game and the refs (of course) missed the call because "they didn't see it happen" (which is a whole lot of bullshit).
In any case, Chara came back with a vengeance and his first shift back after the incident, with the help of Krejci and Iginla, he scored on the power play (and roared like a the scary czech giant he is). He then came back later to once again score on the powerplay with the help of Krejci and Iginla just to prove that one does not simply high stick Zdeno Chara and get away with it.
Winning this game after how our road trip ended is definitely a confidence booster for the team that will carry over to our game tomorrow against the Sabres (although, let's be honest, the Sabres suck. We don't need too much extra confidence to beat those clowns.)
But until then,
Keep calm and Bergeron!
