Contrary to the worries of many Bruins fans, the team was relatively quiet during the trade period. We did make two rather interesting moves though, which will be interesting to see pan out.
Move One: Corey Potter from the Oilers
The Bruins picked up 30 year old Corey Potter off waivers from the Edmonton Oilers earlier today. The team says it was more of a depth move with our recent defensive woes.
Potter is a 6'3", 206 pound right shot defenseman who has played 120 career NHL games with 8 goals and 24 assists with the Oilers, Rangers and Penguins.
He was placed on waivers this season after playing 33 games with the Oilers last season. Compared to the defensemen we currently have playing for us, this move to me wasn't entirely necessary, especially with this guy's stats and considering the fact that not even Edmonton wanted him. But we'll have to see how it plays out.

Move Two: Andrej Meszaros from Philadelphia
The Bruins were also looking for a more direct solution to our defense woes, especially with the loss of Seidenberg and they found that in Andrej Meszaros. The Bruins gave up a third round pick for this guy.
Meszaros has played in 38 games with the Flyers this season, notching 5 goals and 12 assists in that time span. Over the course of his career, he has played for the Lightning, the Senators and the Flyers, totaling 617 games, 58 goals and 176 assists.
Meszaros has been teammates with Zdeno Chara in the Olympics before and will probably be a second line defenseman on the Bruins.
And boy will our defense need the help because news just broke that the Bruins killer himself Thomas Vanek is going to Montreal. This is going to get interesting y'all.
Until next time,
Keep calm and Bergeron!
